Rebooting Your Bus Routes

Make sure you’re heard as ETS redesigns the bus network

The Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) is changing its bus routes in 2020 to help Edmontonians move around the city quicker on buses that come more often. The final draft of the proposed bus network was released in early October and Edmontonians are being asked to share their views again. Your comments will help City Council with decision making when the final bus network comes to us next year.

Your feedback makes a difference

Based on feedback received from thousands of Edmontonians this past spring, some proposed bus routes were changed significantly while others received a minor tweak. Examples of the types changes made to the final draft maps can be seen online at edmonton.ca/newbusroutes.

Walking distances

The proposed bus routes are designed to be more direct and efficient so they won’t wander through as many neighbourhoods. That said, we heard your concerns about increased walking distances. Transit planners have made some route adjustments and most people will be within a 5-7 minute walk of a transit stop. You can view a map showing the walking distance in the proposed network compared to your walk today. There will also be several community routes in areas popular with seniors.

Participate in engagement

I encourage you to attend a family-friendly, drop-in workshop or to fill out the online survey, which is open until December 9 at edmonton.ca/newbusroutes. The workshops are a great opportunity to talk to the ETS planners directly and to get your questions answered by the experts.
